Body & SOUL at La Paloma

A historic session in Barcelona with François K., Joe Claussell and Danny Krivit

This Friday 9 May, La Paloma dance hall will become the stage for a unique night in Barcelona, perhaps unrepeatable: the legendary Body & SOUL party. The legendary trio of Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell and François K. will play all night in a very unusual format, offering an authentic sonic and emotional experience that has transcended three decades of club culture.

Created in 1996 by François K. and John Davis as a Sunday afternoon session at the Vynil Club, located in the Tribeca area of Manhattan, the Body & SOUL party quickly became one of the most iconic sessions of the New York house scene, with a musical approach based on organic and spiritual grooves, capable of connecting body and soul through the dance floor. After Club Vynil closed in 2002, Body & SOUL —which was born in an intimate and communal environment— has crossed borders and continents, becoming a global itinerant phenomenon.

    François K.'s beginnings in electronic and dance music can be traced back to the New York clubs of the late 1970s and the Prelude record label. In the 1980s, he mixed an impressive number of records in the European electro/new wave scene and in the 1990s he founded his own record label Wave Music. As a DJ and producer, he currently explores the dub and techno sides of electronic music. He has mixed around 1,000 records during his career. He had the exclusive honour of being one of the very few DJs to whom the legendary Larry Levan entrusted the booth of the fundamental, avant-garde and legendary Paradise Garage.

    Danny Krivit’s DJ career began at David Mancuso's Loft in New York City, the first multi-racial and pansexual after-party and a mecca for DJs starting in the 70’s. There he began a close and long-lasting collaboration with Larry Levan and François K. Over four decades he has produced, edited and mixed more than 400 records.

    Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell, co-founder of the Spiritual Life Music label, is one of the most respected figures in New York dance music for his work as a DJ, producer and remixer, and above all for his percussive style that incorporates Latin, African or Brazilian rhythms with elements of jazz, rock, disco and live instrumentation, which has influenced the dance scene worldwide.
