"I scavenged the dry desert earth around the middle of New Mexico, so many dead trees, pieces of abandoned cars, dumped fridges, tin cans, broken sheets of iron, wood, plastic. Unwanted garbage left to age, to rust and to carry on changing over time. These found, discarded pieces travelled back with me to become the starting point of this new body of work. I wanted to begin with metal which had previously been part of another history that had been weathered and renewed by the extreme climatic conditions that it had been exposed to. Part of the creation coming from a natural process of destruction and re-construction."
