Villa del Arte, new location

Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Barcelona

By Brian Gallagher 25.02.23

The Barcelona Mandarin Oriental is now home to one of the city’s most important private art galleries, Villa del Arte. Previously located on the same avenue just a few blocks away on Passeig de Gràcia, now, however within a much more impressive space. Set behind the stone columns with their Art Deco reliefs of the renowned Barcelona hotel, the enormous glass windows of the gallery invite guests and locals alike to explore the collections on display within. The gallery flanks the main entrance to the hotel and its selection of restaurants, terraces and cocktail bars. Now with this latest initiative showcasing world renowned art the Mandarin Oriental cultural offering is complete.

The art is displayed within several large spaces that are divided over different interconnecting floor levels, the space is deceptive from the outside. The high ceilings and white walls are the perfect setting for displaying these large art pieces and sculptures that Villa del Arte are renowned for since arriving in Barcelona back in 1999. Originally founded by Bert van Zetten, Marcel y Jutta Huisman. One of the most spectacular additions to the hotel is the sculpture gallery which is now accommodated within the hotel atrium, underneath the ramp that connects the street level with the hotel lobby.
