Tubular Chairs
Tube,Mobles 114 + Eugeni Quitllet
The Barcelona based contemporary furniture manufacturer Mobles 114 will present Tube, designed by Eugeni Quitllet at the upcoming edition of Maison & Objet in París, taking place between the 4th and 8th of September. Tube is a capsule furniture collection consisting of a chair, armchair and matching table defined by its soft silhouette that references its industrial origins, with clean lines that invite comfort and practical use in equal measure. The structure consists of a robust circular steel tube which is topped with a polypropylene surface for both the seat and table which makes for easy maintenance and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
“Tube is a hair that wilfully hides its qualities, externally simple yet intelligent inside: resistant, adaptable to different environments both inside and outside, stackable and easily maintained. The design, authored by Eugeni Quillet combines perfectly wit contract projects such as restaurants and hotels but is essentially a free spirited piece of furniture: Tube is a chair that is equally suited to occupying public space as it is to private homes.”

Eugeni Quitllet (Ibiza, 1972) studied industrial design in Barcelona and began his international career working for Philip Stark. While abroad as well as satisfying his curiosity he also excelled working for global firms. In 2011, he returned to Barcelona and founded his own studio. Quitllet is an expressive and intuitive designer, his projects avoid passing fads but are rather iconic and genuine at the same time. He has been described as contemporary, a tireless researcher and lover of technology; he defines himself as a 'dino-designer' following an old fashioned instinctive process. For Quitllet design must be exceptional; each object, a challenge, an in-depth inquiry into the heart of the matter to discover what hidden therein.
