Tapas. Spanish Design For Food
The Museu del Disseny de Barcelona will explore the relationship between food and design in Spain over the last 25 years by hosting an innovative exhibition, starting on Thursday March 9th and going on until May 21st at the museum and other parallel venues. Sponsored by the museum and Acción Cultural Española (ACE), Tapas. Spanish Design for Food is a free exhibition, curated by designer and architect Juli Capella, where visitors are welcomed to experience the interaction between design and Catalan's everyday gastronomic favourite way to eat, Tapas.
With over 250 items, including videos and photographs, the exhibition focuses its attention on design related developments at the table, in the kitchen, related to food and spaces were food and drink is enjoyed. A variety of conceptual artefacts are included such as the Crumbs-Bird bread-cutting board, designed by Curro Claret, which is an innovative way to recycle waste food, and the Coporrón Glass, designed by Martín Azúa and Gerard Moliné, a wine glass design that gives a contemporary feel to an age-old way of drinking wine.
