Taburete 8 Bar Stool

Marc Morro for Hay

At the most recent Design Talk@Cubiñá, Mallorcan designer Marc Morro presented Taburete 8 Bar Stool, a piece that seems to mark the starting point of a broader collaboration with Hay.

It's a functional object of robust construction and minimalistic expression, exuding the honesty and radical austerity characteristic of Morro's direct approach to design. Available in four tones and two heights, it combines comfort and industrial aesthetics.

  • Both the curved plywood oak seat and the tubular steel frame are clearly presented, enhanced by the color. "I like the idea of making something out of very little, a balance between efficiency and good comfort, I'm interested in exploring archetypes, where a chair is a chair and a table is a table, and respecting the logic of the materials I work with," says Morro.

  • Why 8? The Danish firm explains that the final version was preceded by this number of prototypes. Its creator, however, says that the answer lies in the animated series Dr. Slump.

  • On sale at Cubiñá.
