Venice Architecture Biennale 2012

Taking place between August 29th and November 25th this, the 13th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale includes SPAINLAB, the Spanish pavilion featuring the work of 7 different practices with 7 specific installations. Curated by two architects Antón García and Abril Débora Mesa (working together within the multidisciplinary architectural practice Ensamble estudio) the exhibition considers how abstract ideas are converted into real and practical ends through the application of scientific principles in ways that are unique to each of the practices. This approach puts less emphasis on the finished image but rather on the research and investigations undertaken by individual practices and architects.  Hence the selected installations are not so much concerned with certainties but with methodologies, the process of work, trying out ideas, making prototypical models and sharing this information.
