Rafael Moneo by Poldo Pomés
The documentary “Rafael Moneo revisits his work” by Poldo Pomés accompanies the renowned Spanish architect through his most emblematic works and reveals the craftsmanship behind his creative process. The very same Rafael Moneo (Tudela, 1937) is the protagonist and exceptional guide for the viewer in the first documentary that reviews his prolific career and curious gaze, his obsession with the city and his work in education.
The film follows Moneo in a leisurely walkabout, revisiting for the first time his most emblematic works in Madrid, San Sebastián, Barcelona, Mérida, New York and Stockholm, revealing little known aspects of the buildings, as well as anecdotes from his extensive career and testimonies from collaborators and professionals. The documentary premiered to the general public on September 29th last on the Imprescindibles programme on La2 of RTVE.

Rafael Moneo is the author of dozens of buildings, such as the Atocha station in Madrid, the Kursaal in San Sebastián, l’Illa in Barcelona, the Los Angeles Cathedral, the Moderna Museum in Stockholm and the Museum of Roman Art in Mérida. He has been a professor of architecture at Harvard since 1985. He won the so-called Nobel Prize for architecture, the Pritzker Prize, in 1996, being the first Spaniard to do so. He was also awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts in 2012 and received the Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale in 2021. He lives in Madrid and is 87 years old.
