Pop-Up Store Review
Christmas 2012/13
While online sales of goods become increasingly important to the Spanish economy retailers are increasingly under pressure to come up with innovative and user friendly ways of promoting their wares in traditional shops, the recent phenomenon of the Pop-Up Store appeals to customers because of the way it can reanimate city streets and shopping centres while for retailers the investment can be more manageable, it also provides them with a chance to test the waters with a new service or product. This last Christmas Barcelona hosted a range of Pop-Up stores the following is a review of our selection, most of which will remain in operation till the 15th of January.

Moritz Pop-Up Design Market / DiarioDESIGN
A collaboration between DiarioDESIGN and ADI-FAD together with Moritz. A very carefully selected range of products characterised by their design content chosen from some of the most talented creatives on the current design scene and presented in the form of an exhibition. DiarioDESIGN is one of the most important webs in Spain dedicated exclusively to contemporary design.

Luminox By Jofré
A wide range of the world’s most resistant wrist watches. The Luminox brand was founded in the USA back in 1989, the watches are made in Switzerland however. Renowned for their exclusive lighting technology and their association with the world’s elite corps such the North American NAVY SEALs for which they created the Original Navy SEAL’s, which launched the brand. Culture Cocktails y BULLDOG Gin
The CULTURE COCKTAILS & BULLDOG Gin Pop-Up is divided into two separate zones. One half consisting of the CULTURE COCKTAILS café and cocktail bar a cosy and sophisticated venue for a coffee break or something stronger, adjacent to the bar BULLDOG Gin have installed an off licence with an extensive range of their products. Regular workshops and demonstrations of the optimum way to prepare a gin & tonic as well as other classic cocktails.

OUTLET BoConcept
The best of Danish design at this temporary location right in the heart of the old city; featuring furniture, decorative objects, ceramics etc. A colaboration with the Fundación Soñar despierto, that help the less fortunate kids from Barcelona and Catalonia. Any purchase made at the Galerías Maldà BoConcept Pop-Up will generate a small donation to this worthwhile foundation.
