OMG! BCN

Think Global Buy Local

By Brian Gallagher 20.06.14

Being environmentally conscious can take many expressions, from being vegetarian to using public transport to turning off the air-conditioning however if we really want to save the planet one of the most important things we can do is change our consumption habits. This recently opened shop located in the Santa Caterina Ribera neighbourhood aims to do just that by featuring only local designers and their products. OMG is the initiative of two local entrepreneurs, Iu Bartolomé and Estela Portolés, who after a trip to New York decided to open a shop in Barcelona that once discovered could only provoke the well know text-speak exclamation OMG! (Oh My God).

A Concept Store which combines a collection of products including fashion, jewellery and decorative objects, all selected to illustrate the incredible variety of things designed Barcelona. The brands are all 'Made in Barcelona', and include: Miss Wood, Krizia Robustella, Softheads, Palila, Octaevo, Barcelonines, José A. Roda, Alba Casares ... Whether it be a gift, a decoration piece, a jewel or simply a t-shirt the owners have selected merchandise suitable for tight budgets and not so tight budgets. OMG is also an exhibition space and a workshop. Undoubtedly a lively corner of Barcelona within a vision of a larger context Barcelona.
