A multimedia performance designed by Moment Factory in collaboration with the Cirque du Soleil. The surreal architectural expression of Gaudí (together with subsequent interpreters of his sculptural façade for the cathedral which was consecrated in 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI) combined with a series of superimposed animated projections also involving the flanking towers and statues. Although Barcelona residents may have become immune to its presence the building attracts literally hundreds of thousands of visitors yearly, during the Mercè festival Barcelona audiences oohed and aahed at this quite extraordinary images brought the organic Birth of Christ façade to life accompanied by the sounds of Anthony Rozankovic and Misteur Valaire. Commissioned by the city of Montreal and Barcelona the 7 act spectacle titled ‘L’Ode à la Vie’ based on a ‘Renaud-Architecture d’évènements’ original idea was inspired by the religious iconography of the cathedral as well as Gaudí’s extraordinary body of work, telling the story of rebirth and hope; “ an ode to the world, to the creation of man and to life.” Moment Factory is a multidisciplinary design studio which specialises in new media and entertainment, founded in Canada they producing spectacles internationally with diverse artists and corporations, from Jay-Z to Disney.
