The hotel room is at the centre of any holiday or stay when away from home, no matter how much or little time we spend there our days revolve around it. So then when it’s a room that is beautifully designed with art works and design that reflect the local sensibility and surroundings, all the better. This is the case with the new Premium Deluxe rooms and suites that have recently been refurbished within the iconic Le Méridien Barcelona hotel located on the junction of the Ramblas with the Raval neighbourhood.

Local design studio DS Arquitectes have come up with a fresh and contemporary approach to the room layout and design that nonetheless pays homage to the past as well as the hotel’s location within the very colourful Raval. Lighting, furniture and décor all play a part not forgetting the extras that seasoned travellers are accustomed to finding in their rooms; WiFi, plasma TV screens, Illy coffee machine. Guests can rearrange the furniture according to their requirements and for regular guests the hotel will even leave the room according to their preferences. Individual pieces include the Le Méridien Signature Bed, Saarinen Executive Armless Chair, writing desk; the lighting  features Verner Panton’s Flower Pot as well as classic lamps by Arne Jacobsen (Bellevue), Bert Frank (Shear) and Pedret’s Wire hanging lamp.
