Fins-de-Siècles is an antiques gallery owned by two Belgian experts Michèle Van Hove and Nicolas Vanderbeck which stocks furniture, decorative objects and lighting dating from the 30s, 40s and 50s of the last century. Its speciality is the 1930s Art Deco period, the decorative arts style which developed during the interwar era. Art Deco was a popular design movement which was in vogue from 1920 till 1939 in Europe and America (its influence was felt up until the 1950s in some countries) which had a great influence on architecture, interior design, graphic and industrial design as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, printing, sculpture and cinematography. It’s characterised by fluid lines, luxurious materials, precious woods, the frequent use of geometric motifs, high quality finishes as well as the search for a new functionality and rationalisation of modern life. Italian design from the 1950s is also well represented at Fins-de-Siècles. Stylish pieces sourced mainly from the owners’ travels through France, Belgium, Italy and France that represent the craftsmanship and elegance of that era together with a light-hearted sense of humour.

With more than 800 sq.m. between the gallery and storage areas the furniture and lighting on display includes; tables, dressers, home bar fittings and furniture, fully restored original chairs, mirrors of all types and sizes, curiosities and decorative floor, table and ceiling lamps. Fins-de-Siècles also provides an ongoing maintenance of the original condition and finish of the pieces. Their team of specialists perform detailed restorations which are fully reversible and carried out by hand, all the furniture is French polished using shellac and chairs are re-upholstered using traditional techniques. Advice and follow up sales service is provided to all clients.
