CONTEMPORANEA, Avant-garde Crafts

The Palau de Pedralbes hosts the first edition of CONTEMPORANIA, where more than 130 craft and creation professionals from around the world are presenting their works inspired by innovation and the artistic vision of contemporary crafts, through different types of applied arts such as ceramics, jewellery, lacquer, metal, textiles, glass, paper and wood.
The event is aimed at promoting Spanish and international designer crafts with the intention of becoming a new benchmark space for contemporary crafts. Artisans and curators come together at CONTEMPORANEA. It is an event aimed at both the general public and professionals, and works can be purchased or commissioned during the fair. Access is free with prior registration.

The fair is distributed throughout the different rooms of the Palau de Pedralbes and thematically the selected works can be grouped into three axes: Everyday life of the artist’s mind, Sustainable consciousness and Political craftsmanship.

The III Professional Crafts Congress, promoted by the Generalitat of Catalonia, through the Consorci de Commerce, Artesania i Moda (CCAM), will be held on September 29 in the same Palau de Pedralbes. This edition is titled "The world of luxury vindicates high craftsmanship." Prescribers, markets and connectors” and will address the interactions between luxury and craftsmanship where respect for tradition, creativity and innovation are common.
