3 custom kitchens

22.03.22

Today we spend more time in the kitchen than ever before, a room that has become the very heart and soul of the home. It’s a family space, a working space and often a dining area. No two kitchens are exactly alike. And so for every home there is a perfect kitchen that suits the configuration of the space and the lifestyle of the owners. These three open plan custom kitchens by Toni Espuch, of Azul Tierra are very different in terms of location and materials. However the three projects share the same sensibility and dramatic design impact.

The following descriptions were provided by the designer.

A residence on the Costa Blanca, where the kitchen and the living room are connected both spatially and in terms of colour ranges, volumes and materials. Because of the abundance of light and vegetation the selected material for the kitchen island is a black marble from Zimbabwe while the working area is in steel which provides greater continuity with the living room area. The dining room table in natural wood lends greater warmth to the space. The area has been configured as a single room, open to the living room, separated only by the staircase, a large volume located at the centre of the open plan room that also gives access to the first floor of the house. The predominant colour tones are grey and black in contrast to the exuberant vegetation outside the house.

Kitchen design for an apartment in the Eisample neighbourhood of Barcelona

  • Azul Tierra, Toni Espuch

A duplex in the heart of the city where the eclectic style of mixing and matching objects from different eras provides the warmth that characterizes the spaces created by Espuch and the selection of furniture and fittings from Azul Tierra. The industrial loft look is provided by the heating and air conditioning that contrasts with the restored wood of the original windows and shutters. The common thread is provided by the uniformity of the grey stone coloured concrete floor and the white walls. Once again, the light is the main feature of this space.

A kitchen in a Costa Brava apartment

This apartment has views over the Mediterranean and is decorated in a contemporary style. The open plan kitchen includes the living room that has impressive views of the Mediterranean Sea outside. Textures of natural, quality materials such as oak wood or black marble add sophistication to this open space.
